subscription faqs
How does a soup subscription work?
Think CSA! Instead of a box of produce, we deliver inspired soup and Chicken Bridge Bakery's wood-fired bread on a weekly basis.
Where and when can I pick up a subscription?
Orders are delivered weekly on Tuesdays to a variety of locations in Durham, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough and Carrboro. Check the map on our website for the specific locations. For all pick-up locations, subscribers have at least a 6 hour window to pick-up their orders.
What happens if Iām out of town?
Just let us know ahead of time, and we'll give you a double share another week of your choosing. Alternatively, you are free to gift your subscription to a friend and have them pick-up on your behalf.
I have a food allergy, can I still sign up?
All of our soups are vegetarian, and most are allergen friendly. We try our best in accommodating dietary allergies. Please email us with any restrictions.
How do I find out what will be delivered each week?
A newsletter goes out on Tuesday mornings describing the soup and bread for that week. We do not publish a menu for the full 8 weeks ahead of time, because what we make is contingent on the produce that we get from growers we work with.
Can soups be frozen?
Yes, most of our soups are perfect for the freezer, but are always delivered fresh via the subscription.
What kind of containers do you use?
Soups are packaged by the quart in BPA-free plastic containers that are microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe.
How can my house become a pick-up location?
We are always looking for new pick-up locations to add to our delivery roster. If your home has a covered outdoor space (carport or front porch are ideal) and an outlet nearby for the refrigerator, let's talk! Folks hosting one of our mini fridges at their house get 50% off of subscriptions.
Is Short Winter Soups inspected?
We are inspected by the Orange County Health Department and have received a perfect score of 100 for the past 8 years.
