SOUP MAKER (PART TIME)
Help make great soups and join our kitchen team for 20-25 hours per week!  Paid as a W2 employee starting at $17/hr + pay bumps with shown improvement after 6 months and then annually.

AVAILABILITY REQUIRED:
> Monday & Thursday, 8:30am - 5:30pm
Working alongside our small kitchen team, you'll see soups through from start to finish. This includes setting up workstations, washing, peeling, and chopping a variety and large volume of vegetables; cooking or baking off individual ingredients for soups; blending; packaging and labeling soups; dishes and clean-up.  After training, employees should be able to taste ingredients for doneness and taste finished soups for flavor. Full Disclosure: lots of knife work, dishes and cleaning shared between all employees.

> Tuesdays, 1:30-7pm
Working independently, you’ll sell our soups weekly at the Fearrington Farmers’ Market. This market runs year round and our market staff are expected to work in all kinds of weather including cold temps, rain and hot summer days. You’ll pack out from the kitchen, drive to the market, set up, take-down and then return to the kitchen afterwards. Use our van, or your vehicle with mileage reimbursement.

This is a physically demanding position that requires being able to:
> Stand for extended periods of time
> Repeat the same physical movements and repetitive tasks with precision. Lots of knife work.
> Work outside all types of weather (for Tuesday markets)

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE HAS:
> Great attention to detail and quality in all aspects of work
> Experience with farming, food prep and dish washing, and/or selling at farmers’ markets
> A love of vegetarian or vegan food

APPLICANT SHOULD BE:
> Able to follow prep notes, and do basic math as it relates to cooking and scaling
> Able to work quickly, cleanly & efficiently, with a sense of urgency & purpose
> Organized and is a stickler for details in all aspects of work, including cleaning
> Able to follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food
> Open to giving & receiving feedback in a mutually respectful context
> Respectful towards the product, equipment, and other people
> A team player, including excellent communication, both written and verbal
> A self-starter who can keep themselves on track to fully complete tasks with a positive can-do attitude
> Organized and be prompt at responding to text and email communication
